Shabby w/ burlap wedding/engagement cards.

In my last post, I was trying to catch up sharing a few things I've made over the last few months. I succeeded in getting only two things posted. I'm just too wordy! I had to quit with those two as my post was already too long!

So here is another share - an engagement card and wedding card that I made for my nephew and his fiance (now married!).  The engagement card was made over a year ago, and I just finished the wedding card in time for their May 15th wedding. I tried to match the wedding card fairly closely to the engagement card, as my "niece in law" said she wanted to display them both in a frame!

Here they are, posted side by side:

I wasn't sure what their style was, so used some burlap to make the card look a little shabby and grungy.. who doesn't like that? Their wedding colors were purple and gray as my niece in law said that's the only two colors they could agree on! 

The insides had verses I found on the internet, and I printed them out in the same font and used a lot of brown ink disressing on both cards. I used more burlap inside, and little strings from the burlap under the buttons. I managed to find a couple more of those pretty vintage buttons with purple gems in the middle, that I had used on the engagement card. I really wasn't thinking ahead when I made the engagement card, as to saving things to use on their wedding card. It was just pure luck.

 I love making handmade envelopes and used the WRMK Envelope Punch Board for both. The cards were both 5x7 so I made the envelopes big enough to hold the thickness of the card. I used some goldy beige glitter paper for the engagement envelope, some gray satin ribbon and one of my shabby paper flowers that I made using matching scrapbook papers. The tabs with names I printed on my computer and then cut them out with fancy edge scissors and distressed the edges. Here's a close-up of the engagement envelope. I sure love how it turned out.

For the wedding card envelope, I used white glitter paper. It wasn't as fancy as I was on a rushed time frame to get it done! I made a tag so that it was similar to the engagement card envelope and used the same purple ribbon (though it looks blue in the photo), and at the last minute found a bunch of white tulle to tie around it.

Here are a couple of more close-ups of the cards. I really do love how they turned out and love the look of all the burlap. See those vintage buttons on the top? They were so perfect for this card!

 I used vintage images I found on Pinterest that were free for personal use. I tried to keep them similar. I had decided on the "dance" theme for the wedding card, as my sister told me they had taken dance lessons together just so they could dance at their wedding.......... so I wanted a vintage image of a couple dancing. Do you know how hard it was to find a good vintage image of a couple dancing, in the same era as the couple sitting on the moon?? Very hard!

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY CARDS.

I couldn't miss doing a blog post about making Valentine's Day cards! Here are a few I made using Close to My Heart's February "Rediscover CTMH" FREEBIES that I blogged about HERE the other day. 

And..... Happy Valentine's Day my dear faithful friends and followers!

 
These were all fairly simple cards as I needed them done "yesterday"! The free downloads are little "cardlets" (that's my new word, because they are small little cards) that I placed in the middle of each standard sized card (A2) over some matting, and popped them up with 3D foam dots.

I printed my cardlets on photo paper so they are glossy, and made them about 2" x 2-1/2" in size.  Go to the link at the beginning of my post to download these for FREE.  They are only available through February, 2014.

Here you can see how the little cardlet is popped off the page and is glossy.

I matted each cardlet with one or two pieces of cardstock, or little doilies (Martha Stewart), and added a bow and some ribbon and a few gems. On the last card, I used a scrap of cardstock (black and white), and liked how it looked against the bright pink and red heart background (old scrap I had).  I also used some of CTMH's red shimmer trim.

These were super simple and fast and I loved how they turned out.


If you need to make a quick and fast card today, print out these little cardlets (any size) and slap one on a piece of cardstock and stick it to a card, add 3 gems and voila! your done!  All of my printers are on the blink, so I used my tiny little photo printer and printed all the cards on a 5x7 piece of glossy photo paper. (Where there's a will, there's a way).

TIME FOR VALENTINE CARDS.

Where did February go? It's time to be making cards for our loved ones and I'm behind already! Here are a couple of cards I've managed to get done. Thought you might enjoy them!

I just love the look of this one!  I can't take credit for it though.  I lifted it from Lynn's Stamping and Scrapbooking  and when I saw it, I just had to make it!  I made a little tag to fit inside the little envelope.  Made the envelope from Martha Stewart's score board. They are so cute and easy to make and have so many uses.  A little black glitter paper around the edges really makes it pop!

My ALL TIME FAVORITE is one that I made following a design of Allisa's at Rocky Mountain Paper Crafts.  She had this card posted on her blog which I subscribe to. I changed it up a little bit.  I used black glitter paper and silver glitter paper.  I just love the new glitter papers that CTMH has in their new Spring/Summer 2013 Idea Book!  There also gold, brown and tan glitter papers.

I used silver glitter glue around the edge of the heart.  Two little pink bows stuck down with Liquid Glass, a heart button on top with a little bit of our red twine.  How cute!

The versatility of these cards shows you how much fun we can have with creating beautiful things.  I used the January special kit, Whooo's Your Valentine, which was only available in January, but any artistic stamp set can be used, or any sentiment.

Here are some of the Whooo's Your Valentine Treat Tubes that I made with the kit.  I filled them with Hershey's Kisses. Little red hots look great inside, or colorful heart candies.  The treat tubes will be available on their own in a pack of six, beginning on March 1st.  They can be made up for any occasion.

Valentine's Day. Such fun and another reason to make something pretty for our loved ones!
