Countdown!

Only 2 days to go until the celebration of Jesus's birthday. I think I'm just about ready, and I've enjoyed every minute of preparations.

Made my cards, and some "Sasquatch" cards for the shop where I consign my paper crafts.
Made some Hershey Bar pockets for the shop.
Put my Christmas bedspread on my bed and a few decorations in my bedroom.
Finally set up my tree and a few decorations. So pretty. I love the lights at night. So cozy.
Maddie says hi.
She likes to be right in the middle of things! Sits on my table while I create!
Played with Gemini AI on my phone to make some digitals, just for fun.
Drove down the road to see if the little creek has flooded. We've had all those "atmospheric rivers" in the last few weeks. New name for an old weather pattern, HEAVY RAINS AND FLOODING, which has been going on here forever!
Yup it has flooded.

More decorating and a snuggly night watching Christmas movies.
A couple of more cards I made for my neighbors. (Sorry there are 2 of one, and turned sideways!) I'm posting on my phone and it won't let me rotate them or delete the extra one - good old Blogger)
Played with my new toy, the Cricut Joy Xtra cutting machine. I can use it to make stickers! I've wanted this for a couple of years. Will play and learn after Christmas.
I am so grateful to be living close to my son and his fiance. They are coming over here on Christmas Day. We'll have a little feast and open gifts. We are having a "slimmer" Christmas this year, which is as good thing. Being with my son is the best gift of all!
MERRY CHRUSTMAS TO ALL, AND TO ALL A GOOD 2026!

  2. Hi Marilyn, you know how much I love your cards they are always so pretty. Your home looks lovely all decorated and festive for Christmas and I know that your Christmas is going to be wonderful with your son there with you. Oh, and your new circuit machine, I'm sure you're going to get a lot of pleasure out of that. And I'm sure there's a lot to learn. It seems like all these technical machines do way more than we can imagine, so dig into the manual and have fun 🥰
    🎄🎄 Merry Christmas 🎄🎄

    1. Connie, I did have a very very nice Christmas! Was so nice to have my son here. I finally got more decorating done, on the 24th! I really love how it feels now, all warm and cozy and lots of little lights.. so will keep it this way for probably another month! We feasted and ate and had Chinese food for dinner! Now that it's all done, I want to tackle my new Cricuit machine and play and just do some things I've been wanting to do but didn't have time for! Take care..... enjoy the week! Marilyn

  3. You might be interested to know that when I lived in your area in the early seventies there were a rash of sasquatch sightings in Svensen. The thing was raiding chicken coops and scaring the crap out of kids walking home from school. It would be many year later (May 5th 1993) that I would have my own encounter on Mt. Hood. Did you know there is a Bigfoot Creek and a Bigfoot Road just east of you (near Gnat Creek)? Perhaps he will peek in your window some night.

You seem to fit right into your new community like a hand in a glove. Merry Christmas and best wishes for a prosperous New Year.

    1. Kris, that's very interesting to know (about Sasquatch around Svensen). I totally believe it. My ex husband saw "one" up northeast of Washougal, WA in the mountains, where we used to live! I believe! Where about on Mt. Hood did you see one? I've been around alot of the Mt. Hood forests as used to ride my horse up there! Hope you had a very nice Christmas! Marilyn (Pink Paper Cottage)

    2. It was on the Bald Mountain trail, that forks off of the Ramona Falls trail. Yes, I understand that the Washougal area is a "hot spot". I had too very odd experiences horse camping, that I now believe were due to Sasquatch. In Jefferson Meadow our horses went berserk in the night, pulled up their stakes, and ran off. It took a week to find them (1985) A year later, at Cloud Cap (by the Inn) it happened again, but we were able to stop the horses from getting away, and we left immediately. At the same time 'The Growler" (local nickname) was terrorizing Svensen, a family in Rainer were driven off their property after being terrorized for two plus years. That family had bought the property when the father took a job working on theTrogen power plant. They were from California. Last time I drove to Astoria, I noticed a huge plywood (?) sasquatch across from the Knappa Store. Do you know who made it?

    3. Kris, wow I know that area around Ramona Falls! Rode my horse up there one time in the 70's but no problems then. I used to ride my horse up northeast of Washougal, WA (I lived up there) and there was one road he would NEVER go down all the way.. he would totally freak out! I thought it was probably a cougar there, but never knew for sure why. I always felt totally spooked in that area. I don't know who made the Sasquatch sign by the Knappa store. I haven't noticed it! And also, didn't know there's a Bigfoot Creek east of Svensen! Very interesting! Marilyn

    4. For years I thought the incident at Jefferson Meadow was caused by a cougar...until I started reading accounts online about that area. Another strange thing was that we had a huge doberman who loved nothing so much as racing ahead of the horses on the trail. The afternoon before the incident, he disappeared. It turned out he had run five miles back to the parking lot, to wait for us beside our pick-up. Extremely odd behavior for this dog. Five years later on a hike to Jefferson Meadow, I found a pile of purple poop full of huckleberries. It looked like a giant had used a large boulder as a toilet seat. It was HUGE. That was enough to convince me.

I saw the plywood figure last summer, so it might be gone now. It was across highway 30 from the store, next to another sign (I think), very large. I wish I had stopped to take a photo. Btw, I misspelled Trogan. No way to edit it.
