Pink Spring

To me, Spring means pink, pink, and more pink! After a long winter in my darkish bedroom with mostly blues with tan walks, I decided I needed to brighten up my sleeping space.

At my house in Madras, Oregon, where I moved from 2 years ago, my bedroom was a bright pink! I loved it for the 9 years my husband and I were there, but when I moved, I decided I was tired of it, and actually liked the calmer tannish brown walks in this entire mobile home! It was a nice change.
                     Tan walls with blue
So my bedroom (and me) were treated to a little makeover. No, no pink walls! Just pulled in whatever pink I could find!
Pink quilt from my other house, pink picture above my bed, pink salt lamp, pink curtains, fluffy pink throw, and a vase of faux pink flowers!
It has really cheered me up! And of course, I'm late with this post! I actually DID make these changes about a month ago and it WAS Spring!

HAPPY SPRING (almost summer) everyone! Tomorrow, June 14th, here where I live, is supposed to reach 97⁰!!

I've been busy in my yard. More coming soon!

  1. Your bedroom looks lovely. I especially like the big window, that must be nice to wake up to seeing the morning sunshine coming through.
The mixture of art behind your bed is very pretty too. I like how you've not just put pictures but also Incorporated the plates and the little mirror and the birdhouse. You've created a very cheery bedroom.

    1. Connie, yes I love that window in my bedroom. It looks out to the neighbors' pasture and the big fir trees in the distance. Sometimes they have their horses there too! I do have to put a blackout curtian on it though, as it faces east and that HOT morning sun comes right in and would wake me up at 6:00 if I didn't! I do love my wall above my bed.. bits and pieces of things I love.... xoxo Marilyn

  2. Love it Marilyn. Our bedrooms are our sanctuary and we need them to reflect comfy and calm. Love the decor arrangement on your wall. Have a great week. Hugs. Kris

    1. Kris Thank you! Yes... I love my bedroom and it is such a calm place. I do work in here on my computer, but try to keep my desk uncluttered (ha ha) and keep the work put away so it doesn't always remind me of things to do! I'm loving the pinks right now! Marilyn

  3. I love pink!!! Spring never lasts long enough. Hot days are in NC too. It was 99 one day this past week. Ugh. But I'm recovering from foot surgery so no outside activities for me, which means no sweating!! Yay πŸ˜‚

    1. Hi Anne.... yes I know. Spring seems so short and then all of a sudden it's summer.. and full on heat! Where I live (and moved to 2 years ago) I didn't think it would get so hot here! We also had a 99 degree day last weekend, and a 95 degree day before that. Such a shocker to me and I'm glad that doesn't happen too often! Take advantage of having to relax and stay inside.. and do some fun crafty things or reading (and eating too?). Take care and hope you heal very fast! Marilyn

  4. I love the "new look" of your bedroom! I had a reproduction pink lamp, made to look like an oil lamp, with a huge top. It had roses on the top piece. I was so afraid an earthquake would cause it to be destroyed, that I glued the base to my bedside chest, and wired the top piece to the lamp frame. The irony was, my home was broken into, and the miscreants smashed the lamp, and pushed over my five gallon water dispenser on the carpet. They were furious that I did not have the usual very fenceable stuff; electronics; video games; jewelry...they found none of my possessions worth stealing. That was in Kitsap County in 2000.

I was in your neighborhood on Sunday, hoping to beat the heat of Hillsboro. I got sand for my catio at the river in Brownsmead. I also checked to see if there was any new work on the Brownsmead school/store restoration. Nothing new there.

    1. Kris that is sad about your lamp! I bet it was so pretty! If you were here last Sunday, then you got our 99 degree day! No getting away from the heat here! Of course, right on the ocean west of Astoria, it was much cooler. When and if it gets that hot here again, I'm heading over to the ocean! Good idea to get sand along the river in Brownsmead. I was just at that boat ramp area about a month ago.. so pretty there. Sat in my lawn chair enjoying the sunshine and water. I had a catio in Madras! Loved that thing but left it when I moved. I want one here too... mine was a little chicken coupe.... so looking for one like that again. Did you get to the new Blackberry Bog Farmstand which is now in Knappa? Their strawberries are from their farm down in Brownsmead! Marilyn

    2. I have yet to make it to the Farmstand. Alrich Point was our swimmin' hole in the sixties and early seventies. The water seems horribly cold and dirty to me now, but there was a family swimming there on Sunday. Those past days seem so simple and peaceful to me now. It's not just the rose-colored glasses of childhood that prompts me to reflect. People were genuinely more happy with what they had back then, and simple pleasures. Mass media, and in particular, the Internet, has incalculated endless WANTS in just about everyone. Thankfully we have the option to shut off the noise.
